Old Empire - Before the Old Empire, there were 4 Nations. The Goblin nation owned the plains, a vast nomadic nation of clans and tribes ruled by a council of war-chiefs. The Elves owned the forests and the deserts, their kings building high crystal towers and living lives of high and wild magic. A Union of Merfolk ruled the seas, an ancient alliance of many races living in harmony despite their differences. And a Dwarven Empire, ruled by a Empire and his mighty thanes, ever at war with the Goblins and Elves. Then one day, portals opened. The Empire had arrived. The Empire used magic on a scale unknown to the Four Nations. Massive machines, built with wondrous metals and powered by strange egg shaped gems known as powerstones, smashed into the the goblin nation and the elven kingdom. The dwarves made a deal with the invaders, supplying intelligence about the elves and golbins as well as resources and manpower. The Old Empire smashed the goblins and drove the elves back to the forests, shattering their crystal towers and killing their elders and kings. The merfolk fielded a vast army, more fighters and wizards then the other nations even thought they had, more then the other nations combined. And the Old Empire killed them all. Powerful magics boiled the sea and scorched the bottom. The Old Empire built cities, roads, and fortresses. They built spires, gates and vast armies of foot soldiers and machines. They ruled the sky as well as the land and sea. They bred slave races from goblins, crossing them with men to make orcs, bugbears and hobgoblins, crossing men and elves to make halflings, crossing dwarves and men to make gnomes. For 8,000 years, the Old Empire persisted, bolstered by its links with the rest of the empire through the portals. Then one day, the portals closed with no warning. The Old Empire was thrown into shock. The slave races rebelled, the military fractured. For 1,000 years, civil war split the Empire before it finally fell. The next 2,000 years saw the rise of the orc nomads in the plains, the goblins infesting the hills, the Dwarven Empire breaking up into independant thanedoms and retreating to their mountain strongholds and humans holding the deserts and the low hills and river valleys. New gods have arisen, replacing the old ones. Cities have been rebuilt. Few relics of the Old Empire remain, particularly of the precious powerstones and most of those have been depleted.

Weakly Divine Beings - The Old Empire had invested great divine power in many different beings, related to elements and physical aspects. Two examples are Pan and the FireHawk. Of these weakly divine beings, some are dead.

Known Living weakly divine beings include: The Firehawk, The Great Shadow, The Raggedy Man, The Blue Jar

Known Dead weakly divine beings include: The Gemlord, The Overmind, The Angel (kinda sorta), Pan

Weakly Divine beings of unknown status: The Queen of Blades, Ktulu

The Native Resistance - When the Raggedy Man began to produce weakly divine beings to help in the conquering of the plane, the Elves, Goblins and, Merfolk did the same. The Old Empire defeated them all.

The Great Wolf (Goblin) - Fled from Pan into the far reaches of the cosmology. Also split into two seperate beings with one half becoming the Oracle on the Mountain and the other half becoming Haelfager, God of Werewolves.
Nightmare Child (Elven) - Trapped in a never ending maze by the raggedy man
Titan (Goblin) - Killed by the Firehawk and the Gemlord
Could-Have-Been King (Elven) - Assassinated by the Queen of Blades
The Lamentation (Elven and Merfolk) - Absorbed by the Soul Jar

There exists in the deserts to the East, a tower shrouded in positive energy. In that tower is a device for harnessing and directing the power of a weakly divine being.

The Hungerer is a non-antromorphic Old Empire deity of desire.

The Outer Gates connect to more then just the Golden Road.

The One-Eyed Brotherhood were once the leaders of the orcish nation. Their leader was kidnapped..
